Have You Forgotten Who You Are?
"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago."
Many women spend years carrying responsibilities while slowly losing sight of themselves. They become known by their roles, titles, responsibilities, achievements and expectations.
Wife. Mother. Professional. Business owner. Leader. Caregiver.
Yet before every role, God established identity. Before He entrusted assignments, He created a masterpiece.
One of the greatest battles many women face is not a lack of ability, opportunity or potential. It is forgetting who they are.
God did not begin with what you would do. He began with who you would be. Identity was settled in the heart of God long before you took your first breath, and every assignment He has placed on your life flows from that identity, not the other way around.
When a woman builds her sense of worth on what she produces, performs or provides, she becomes vulnerable to every season that interrupts her capacity. A demanding marriage, an unexpected loss, a difficult chapter in motherhood or a stalled career can shake the woman whose identity is tied to performance. But the woman who knows she is God's masterpiece remains rooted even when her circumstances shift.
To be called His masterpiece is to be intentionally crafted. It means nothing about you is accidental. Your design, your gifts, your sensitivities, your story, your placement in time and family. All of it carries the signature of a deliberate Maker.
Purpose flows from this place. You do not chase purpose. You discover it as you reconnect with the One who designed you. When identity is restored, purpose becomes clearer, decisions become steadier and the noise of comparison begins to lose its grip.
Remembering who God created you to be changes the way you carry your roles. You stop serving from fear and begin serving from fullness. You stop performing for approval and begin living from assignment. You stop apologising for the woman God designed and begin stewarding her well.
This is the call of She Thrives. To help women remember. To help women return. To help women rise as the masterpieces God always saw.
- · What role currently occupies the largest space in your identity?
- · In what areas have circumstances been speaking louder than God's truth?
- · What would change if you fully embraced the reality that you are God's masterpiece?
This week, pause each morning and remind yourself of who God says you are before you step into what God has called you to do. Speak the truth aloud. Let identity precede activity. Notice how this changes the way you carry your responsibilities and respond to pressure.
Father, thank You for creating me intentionally and for purpose. Forgive me for the times I have allowed responsibilities, disappointments, circumstances or the opinions of others to define me. Help me see myself through Your eyes. Restore clarity where I have become confused. Awaken every dormant gift, purpose and assignment within me. Teach me to live from the truth of who You created me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen.
- I am God's masterpiece.
- I am intentionally created and divinely designed.
- My value comes from God and not from circumstances.
- I will not be defined by my past, my failures or the opinions of others.
- I am aligned with God's purpose for my life.
- I carry His design, His grace, and His calling.
- I choose to walk in the fullness of who God created me to be.
- I am becoming the woman He designed me to be.
- I am thriving according to His purpose.
